CSS3 animations

By in Design, Technology

Check this out. This is a good read for animations using css3. Although we still have a long way untill css3 becomes the industry standard I still think that you should pay a visit to marcofolio.net.

You can also see the css3 animations’ jquery versions side by side.

Google Chrome Extensions

Chrome Extensions

Finally extensions for Google Chrome have arrived. You can reach them form Chrome’s Extensions Page

Unfortunately right now the mac version of Chrome is not supported. I guess we will have to wait for now. The best part about these extensions is that I have installed about all the plugins I liked in Firefox and Chrome doesn’t seem to slow down at all. I think Google has done a good job about speed.

If you are using Chrome, I think you should give them a try, you probably won’t regret it.

Chrome Os

Chrome OS

Chrome OS

As you probably know “Google” is working on a “Linux” based operating system which is based on the browser of their own called “Chrome” and its web applications.

I had a chance to try out the Chrome OS through a Vmware image with a “Windows 7 Host” during the weekend. You can grab a copy of the “Chrome Os” vmware image from the following link GDGT. You ‘ll need to have a “GDGT” account and you will also need either Vmware or Virtualbox installed on your system in order to make things work.

Actually the operating system is in its baby steps right now. It’s not even in its alpha stages but the experience it provides is more about trying to make us understand what we can wait from such an internet based operating system. Even with 2 gigs of ram with a dual cpu the virtual machine wasn’t running fast at all. But anyway I think if you have the time you should go ahead and try out this new approach to what an oprerating system can be.

Clixpy

Clixpy.com

Clixpy

Clixpy is a web usability testing tool which helps web designers to track user information. It actually captures user sessions without capturing sensitive information like credit cards and other personal data. After you create an account from clixpy.com the service generates a script for you to add to your site which you wish to track user information.

Every move the users make with their cursors are being tracked and saved as sessions. When you log into your account you can see the list of saved sessions and replay them in your browser. You can save, add notes to the sessions that you think are critical. You spend money based on the number of sessions you wish to record.

You can also try the demo which gives you a chance to see how the recordings work.

Here is a screenshot of their main interface.

Designer’s Couch

Designer's Couch

Designer’s Couch is a meeting point for designers all over the world. The service they offer is a professional platform where designers can showcase their works, and get insightful critiques on their designs from other professionals about their portfolios.

Designers’ Couch has a good critique system for their members. The minimum amount of characters you can enter in a critique is 140 which helps people to really share their ideas and push each others portfolios to the next step. I have been a member for about 4 days now. They have reviewed and accepted my works in about half a day and later on i had some of the first critiques and comments for my work. The community seems to be very active and they take the time to share their ideas.

The site seems to be a great place to share ideas for designers who speak the visual language. So if you are a designer go ahead and give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
